What is the one thing that motivates me with The Count of Monte Cristo?
My motivation comes from the story line. The whole never give up motto is embedded in this story about great suffering but almighty triumph. A man who hits the lowest of the low, trying to kill himself, then reaches the highest of the high, becoming the richest man any has known.
Who is my favorite character? Why?
Edmond Dantes who eventually becomes the Count of Monte Cristo. I admire people with strong willpower and dedication. When Edmond Dantes is sent to prison he goes in as an uneducated and naive young man. Whilst in there though he is transformed into something else entirely. Through the tutelage of a fellow inmate and driven by his own hate for the people responsible for his imprisonment, he morphs into force to be reckoned with. He’s definitely the favorite since, to try and escape, he undertakes lessons in history, economics, warfare and mathematics, just to name a few (although he is in prison with nothing else to do). He eventually escapes and uses this new found skills to exact his revenge also.

What this movie’s famous line?
Edmond Dantes (The Count of Monte Cristo) played by Jim Caviezel
Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst, for I will do mine. Then the fates will know you as we know you, as Albert Mondego, the man……
What elemental message do I see?
That with extreme focus and discipline, someone, anyone, can get what they want. Although in this film, he is driven by hate and dreams of revenge, if you find your inclination or incentive, use it and don’t look back to achieve what you want to achieve.
