What is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty about?
A man stuck in rut who seems to “zone out” often; Walter Mitty works for Life Magazine as negative asset manager who seemingly has lost a photo negative from a celebrated yet secretive Life Magazine photographer. He unexpectedly takes a chance and goes on an adventure of a lifetime involving sharks, volcanoes, helicopters and warlords.
Directed and starring Ben Stiller. Also starring Sean Penn, Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Patton Oswalt and Shirley MacLaine.
What is the one thing that motivates me with The Secret Life of Walter Mitty?
Life is not over. I’d love to go on the journey that Walter does. And plus, I daydream all the time the way that he does where real life doesn’t even come close. It’s time to cut the crap, build up some courage and confidence and do the impossible.
Who is my favorite character? Why?
Sean Penn’s character Sean O’Connell. Although I can relate to Walter’s life and journey, it’s the crazed, life living/loving, hermit photographer who captivates my imagination. Imagine the things that he’s seen and done. Incredible.
What this movie’s famous line?
Walter Mitty played by Ben Stiller. Which is the motto of Life Magazine.
“To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.”
What elemental message do I see?
Life is a journey. But if you’re not careful, it can be easily wasted. I think this movie, if only for a brief while, shakes you out of apathy and says “Wake Up!”
What do the critics think?
Who cares, I love it!
