John Nash played by Russell Crowe
“If we all go for the blonde and block each other, not a single one of us is going to get her. So then we go for her friends, but they will all give us the cold shoulder because no on likes to be second choice. But what if none of us goes for the blonde? We won’t get in each other’s way and we won’t insult the other girls. It’s the only way to win. It’s the only way we all get laid.”
This top motivational movie presents the life story of John Nash. Nash was a mathematician who changed history with his revolutionary theory known as “Game Theory”. However, if that’s all the movie was about, it would probably be a little dull. But this movie is not dull. John Nash suffered from schizophrenia and went to hell and back because of it. This is an inspiring film that shows Nash and his wife battling his own personal demons and ultimately become one of the greatest minds of the 20th century.
The actual facts:
-John and his wife Alicia actually divorce; his son is also to another woman
-John’s hallucinations later in life not during university
-His theory is really far more complicated than what’s explained in the movie
-He never worked for the Pentagon
-He never made a speech when accepting his Nobel Prize
Why it makes me think, “Damn, got to get moving!”
Sometimes I think I’ve got problems and I sulk. Then I watch this movie and realize how ridiculous my problems are compared to John Nash’s. That’s the first reason, the second? Even though Nash is a tad mentally ill which may be the cause of his obsession, I still respect his concentration and focus on his passion, math. It makes me think “If I could focus like that on what I need to do, I’d already be there.” You couldn’t imagine Nash wasting time and procrastinating.
How many times have I watched it?
