An adolescent Frank Abagnale Jnr. reeling from family troubles, leaves home and starts a life of crime forging cheques and impersonating professionals (a doctor, lawyer & pilot). He is chased around the world by a devoted FBI agent. It’s an incredible true story starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Amy Adams, Christopher Walken and Martin Sheen.
The actual facts:
The movie pretty much hit the nail on the head in terms of accuracy to the actual events. No surprise though, it is directed and produced by Steven Spielberg.
My favorite line?
Frank Abagnale Snr. played by Christopher Walken.
“Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse, wouldn’t quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Gentlemen, as of this moment, I am that second mouse.”
Why it makes me think, “Damn, I got to get moving!”
I get inspired by this film through Frank Jr.’s fearlessness. He was so young travelling world. I do condemn the way he went about it but he had initiative. His circumstance and the situations he got himself into should have been overwhelming but he had such belief in himself that he overcame the odds every time. He dwarfed what most people accomplish in their lives by the time he was 21.
I thought I’d include my favorite scene from the movie where Frank Abagnale Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio) is near caught by FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks) but uses some quick thinking and foils him by impersonating United States Secret Service agent.
How many times have I watched it?
